Questions and answers

Booking, the courses, certificates and practical details. If your question is not here, ask us.

Booking and deposits

How do I book a place?

Choose a course and a date, then pay the deposit online. Your place is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through, and you will get a confirmation email with your booking reference.

When do I pay the rest of the fee?

The balance is due by the first day of your course. Full payment is taken before the course starts.

Can I cancel or change my dates?

Deposits and fees can be refunded if you cancel within 14 days of paying, less card processing fees and a £50 administration fee, as long as the course has not started. After 14 days we cannot accept cancellations, unless the course is not as advertised. A change of dates is treated as a cancellation, although we may allow a change at our discretion, with a fee of up to £50 each time. The full terms and conditions apply.

None of the dates suit me. Can I come on other days?

Possibly. Other dates can sometimes be arranged if you give us enough notice. Use the enquiry form on the course page and tell us which days work for you.

The courses

Do I need any experience?

No. Most of our makeup, hair, and hair and makeup courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as working artists who want to update their skills. The 2-day and 3-day Russian hairstyling courses are for stylists who already have some Russian hairstyling experience. We recommend starting with the 1-day introductory Russian course or the 4-day bridal hairstyling course.

How many students are in a class?

No more than three, so you get plenty of individual attention throughout.

Do I practise on real people?

For makeup, yes. You practise on a live model, which you can bring yourself, or we can provide one for £60 a day. Hairstyling is taught on training heads with human hair. That way we can teach several hairstyles each day without damaging anyone's hair with repeated backcombing and strong products.

Do I need to bring my own kit?

No. All makeup, false lashes, hair pieces, padding, hair products, tools and equipment are provided for you to use during the course. You also get full details of every product and tool we use, with high-end and budget alternatives.

Is lunch included?

Yes. Lunch and refreshments are provided free of charge.

Will topics be taught in the order listed?

Not always. For example, hairstyling may be taught before makeup on a combined course, but everything listed for your course is covered.

Certificates

Are the courses accredited?

Yes. Our courses are accredited by the Guild of Beauty Therapists. An accredited certificate can help you get liability insurance, professional discounts from makeup brands, and access to trade-only hairstyling suppliers.

How do I get my certificate?

At the end of the course you answer a short multiple-choice questionnaire, which includes health and safety questions. The accredited certificate costs £25.

Practicalities

Where are the courses held?

At Asian Bridal Looks, Swakeleys Road, Uxbridge, London UB10 8DP. The Contact page has a map and directions, and your booking confirmation includes the address.

What are the hours?

Most courses run from 10am to 5pm. The 1-day makeup course runs from 10am to 6pm.

Is a photoshoot included?

No. Photoshoots are optional. On the longer hair and makeup courses we teach you how to organise your own photoshoot with little effort and at no cost, because short video clips and phone photos are what most clients look at now. If you would still like a professional photoshoot, ask us about it when you book.

Ask a question
