Optional Day 5, Photoshoot after hair & Makeup CourseOptional
- Photoshoots are optional only.
- With the increased capacity of mobile phones to produce well edited pictures, and with clients preferring small video clips of makeup artists work rather than edited pictures, photoshoots are becoming more redundant these days.
- During the 4 day hair and makeup course we teach students how to conduct their own photoshoot with little effort and free of charge.
- We however still offer the option of a photoshoot in case a student wants one. The cost of a photoshoot is £800.
- We feel though that photoshoots are not an important part of a makeup course these days and are often unnecessary.
- Unfortunately many makeup academies insist on a photoshoot being part of the makeup course just so that they can make extra money, disregarding their obligation to provide students the best advice and ways of saving money.
Topics may not be taught in exactly this order, but everything listed is covered.
Practicalities
Included in the fee
- Lunch and refreshments
- All makeup, lashes and hair products you practise with
- Training heads for hairstyling
- The full list of products and tools used, with high-end and budget options
All makeup, false eyelashes, hair pieces, padding, hair products tools and equipment will be provided for students to use during the course in their practice sessions. You will be given full details of all products and tools used both high end and cheaper alternatives. A lot of information is covered therefore students should take suitable notes and photographs to assist in further practice after the course. For the first 2 days you will be practising makeup techniques learnt on the course on a model which you can bring, or one can be provided for you for an extra fee of £60 per day. Training heads / mannequins will be provided for students to use during the hairstyling part of the course. It is not practical to use live models as multiple hairstyles are demonstrated each day and it is necessary to use different hair products and backcombing. Continuous backcombing and application of strong hair products on a live model would cause severe damage to the hair.
Models. Bring your own model, or we can provide one for £60 a day.
Certificate. The 4 day hair and makeup course is accredited by the Guild of Beauty Therapists, one of the largest trade bodies in the beauty industry. Accredited certificates help to obtain liability insurance, discounts (upto 35%) from makeup brands, and access to specialised hairstyling products through trade only companies. Whereas, non-accredited courses run by many academies are unable to provide such benefits. The certificate costs £25.
Paying. Pay the deposit online to book your place, then pay the balance by the first day of the course. Terms and conditions.

What students said
“The four day hair and makeup course was worth every penny. I’m so glad to have been taught by Nayyar, she is extremely patient. Having never done hair and makeup before made me nervous, but Nayyar’s patience really helped me. I learnt to do hairstyles that I thought would be complex, but Nayyar taught them in such an easy way. I learnt various makeup looks and overall am extremely impressed with the course, and really happy to have learnt so much in a space of a few days.”
Questions
How do I book a place?
Choose a course and a date, then pay the deposit online. Your place is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through, and you will get a confirmation email with your booking reference.
When do I pay the rest of the fee?
The balance is due by the first day of your course. Full payment is taken before the course starts.
Can I cancel or change my dates?
Deposits and fees can be refunded if you cancel within 14 days of paying, less card processing fees and a £50 administration fee, as long as the course has not started. After 14 days we cannot accept cancellations, unless the course is not as advertised. A change of dates is treated as a cancellation, although we may allow a change at our discretion, with a fee of up to £50 each time. The full terms and conditions apply.
None of the dates suit me. Can I come on other days?
Possibly. Other dates can sometimes be arranged if you give us enough notice. Use the enquiry form on the course page and tell us which days work for you.
Do I need any experience?
No. Most of our makeup, hair, and hair and makeup courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as working artists who want to update their skills. The 2-day and 3-day Russian hairstyling courses are for stylists who already have some Russian hairstyling experience. We recommend starting with the 1-day introductory Russian course or the 4-day bridal hairstyling course.
How many students are in a class?
No more than three, so you get plenty of individual attention throughout.
